I missed posting weekend links on Saturday. As I debated whether to scrap them altogether, I figured I'd rather share great posts others wrote than write my own. This is what touched my heart this past week:

Pete Wilson talked about two things a marriage needs. I'll be honest in admitting the first abounds in my marriage, the second is something I really need to work on!
John Piper as usual wrote an incredible post. So inspiring!

I have a new (seemly healthy) obsession. I am addicted to podcasts.
I was already super excited when I discovered them back in the Ipod age. I used to take my Ipod to the gym and listen to worship songs when working out, which quite honestly is the only way I can take any enjoyment out of working out.
This year I got my first Iphone and was impressed with all the things I could do. When I found out I could dowstream podcasts, I was thrilled. Now I carry my phone in my apron pocket when doing chores around the house, plug it onto my car sound system and use headphones if I am stuck on a waiting room. All the while, listening to services! How cool is that?
My favorite choices so far are John Piper, Joel Osteen and Victory World Church. Do you have any good podcasts to suggest?

This past week I just finished reading a book that had a tremendous impact in my life: John Piper's This Momentary Marriage.
I know it may sound odd, but I didn't really know what marriage was about. I had a wordly view that it was about living together, having babies, sharing a double income. Lately, this topic has been flooding my life. We talked about during a couple's night. I found this wonderful book by John Piper for free. Our church is preparing for a couple's retreat. I've been reading stuff about marriage literally everywhere.
This book covers pretty much all basic topics in a discussion about marriage. Love. Sex. Patience. Forgiveness. Leadership. Submission. Faith. Divorce.
It would be foolish of me to try to improve on John Piper's words, or attempt to sound as if my 2 1/2 year old marriage has taught me great lessons. There are many heartaches, joys and lessons Andre and I have not yet been through.
Nothing the book talks about is new. It's all there, folks. Right in your bible. But the manner in which John weaves stories, combines cultural beliefs to scripture, and talks about Jesus, it's overwhelming. Especially the Jesus part. I had no idea marriage was so much about Jesus.
There is a part on singleness as well, which makes the book perfect for single people and those about to get married. There are lots of questions people should ask before saying 'I do', and the truth is that not a lot of us do ask these hard questions.
For all you kindle users, I urge you to download it for free. For the paperback lovers, it's totally worth the price you'll pay for it.

Today is hubby's bday, so I am all excited about the fact he gets the spotlight for a whole day. He loves, loves, loves birthday celebrations and would probably have a huge party every year if we could afford it. But you know what? He is awesome and totally deserves it.

Emily Freeman is encouraging people to write a letter to themselves, aged 16, and some awesome stuff is coming out of it. I need time to sit and read through them all. If you haven't yet, feel free to start by reading mine.
Lysa TerKeurst is once again reading my thoughts by writing about how much she talks. Let the non-yabber girl throw the first stone.
This week I found Pete Wilson's blog. I already loved him for writing Empty Promises. After watching this video, I can see his wife is just as awesome as I would have expected. Plus, I now vow to never wear a shower cap in front of my husband anymore.
And last, but not least, I feel that this week was a themed one. On Sunday I had to choose a brand new Scripture to write on my craft room board and I choose Ephesians 3:16-19. Yesterday I had to write on wide, which brought that to mind. And in the evening, I checked John Piper's blog to find this little gem. Don't you just love when things fit in?
